Summary/Abstract: The author discusses social reactions to the rape on the Polish woman in Rimini in August 2017. The analysis of the texts in four opinion‑forming weeklies shows different distribution of accents in the interpretation of the event and extremely different worlds of values, which are a sign of a different understanding of the THE OTHER category. Although the assessment of the incident was the same in different environments, it led to a dispute and its dichotomization.
