Summary/Abstract: The aim of the text is to examine the role of metaphors in political debates about Bosnia and Hercegovina. Many authors underline that the metaphors are widely used for explaining complicated problems and Bosnian case is not an easy one. There is no doubt that the majority of popular metaphors about this country refer to its multinational and multicultural heritage. Some of them are positive and some of them are negative depending on the ideological and political context. One should keep in mind that oriental stereotype can be defined in various ways, sometimes oriental values are affirmed and sometimes are stigmatized.
