Summary/Abstract: The article analyses the methods of translations of word plays which appeared in James Bond’s speech concerning women, their beauty, clothes as well as their relationships, including the erotic ones, with the Agent. The analysis covers 10 puns in the source language and their 20 translations into Polish (voice over and subtitles) as well as 10 translations into Russian (dubbing). One may conclude that the Polish translators managed to obtain the effect of pragmatic equivalence. The translation into Russian, on the other hand, very often does not render word play thus losing the comic effect of the original.
