Summary/Abstract: The paper has two aims. The first one is a close reading of Krystyna Miłobędzka’s experimental volume of poetry, Dwanaście wierszy w kolorze [Twelve Poems in Colour]. This reading shows the complex nature of gendered subjectivity in Miłobędzka’s poetry and the way it is expressed through minimal language units (e.g. pronouns and prepositions) as well as avant-garde techniques (typography, usage of different font colours). The second aim is to reveal how academic writing on gender can fall into the trap of what Hélène Cixous calls a “phallic mystification.”
