Summary/Abstract: “Produkt Polski” (The Polish Product) is an example of the book that breaks the taboo of taste. Shuty’s work joins contrary contents (religious, eroticism, dignity, frivolity, the sacrum and the profane), in a caricature way. Therefore „Produkt Polski” may be perceived as distasteful. The purpose of this paper is to explain the reader’s feelings in confrontation with Shuty’s book. The paper also focuses on a discussing the motif of ickiness in „Produkt Polski”. In conclusion, the author proves that disgust and ickiness are used by artist to contest consumerism and the weaknesses of polish culture. Although the text is an example of a case study, it also contains the conclusions that comment contemporary polish culture.
