Summary/Abstract: The article offers an analysis of names of persons in Russian prison slang. The source material was provided by „Справочник по ГУЛАГу” (The Encyclopedia and Dictionary of Prison Slang) by J. Rossi and „Словарь тюремно-лагерно-блатного жаргона” (A Dictionary of Prison, Forced Labor Camp and Criminal Slang) by D. Baldaev, I. Isupov, and V. Belko. In describing lexical units references were made to the studies in penitentiary psychology.
