Summary/Abstract: The subject of the article is the attempt to specify the difficulties of students at the age of 50+ during the process of language learning, that have the influence on the efficiency of their education. The analysis covered the problems of the physiological, psychological and social character as well as the environment in which the seniors learn the language. The appropriate identification of barriers that the elderly people face during the language classes might contribute to the correct specifying of the right methods and creating such working techniques that would lead the didactic process to increasing the effectiveness within the area of practical foreign language use.
