Summary/Abstract: The article deals withs to the issue of awareness, and its theoretical part is based onthe concept of ‘orientation’ as a component of the ‘social mentality’. The article points tothe possibility of using ‘orientation’ as a tool for the analysis of attitudes towards work.As for the empirical aspects, there were presented the results of the study “Attitudesof graduates to the labor market”. The article describes the attitudes of young Poles towork, focusing on selected categories of people – graduates of universities participatingin the Warsaw labor market. The presented typology was based on the factor analysisusing the construction of cumulative index. The main orientations of the respondents,recognized in the factor analysis, did not correlate with each other and had differentproperties – they were separate social and statistical constructs.
