Summary/Abstract: For the native French speakers who study Romanian, the similarities between the two languages can more often than not be a disadvantage, as they tend to make certain false analogieswith lexical items or grammatical structures in their mothertongue (French) and this leads to confusions and interference. The major goal of the present paper is to underline several particular aspects concerning the obstacles faced by French speaking students in the process of learning reflexive pronoun in the Romanian language, by mainly focusing on the factors favouring interferential errors. We insist, in our presentation,on the necessity for a contrastive approach in teaching the Romanian reflexive pronoun, in order to facilitate the understanding of the different linguistic phenomena in the two languages in contact and to prevent the appearance of negative transfer.
