Summary/Abstract: Consultancy support is usually regarded as a service that provides advice to clients (persons, organizations, companies) to achieve defined goals, take actions, or assist clients in making decisions, planning, or implementing solutions. Consultancy is usually associated with the business sector, but counseling and advisory services across other sectors can also be considered consultancy. This chapter aims to analyze whether consultancy services focused on the reduction of personal, social, and economic decisions for families with Alzheimer’s (AD) patients. Alzheimer’s disease is most common among older patients, has a long span, but not an optimistic prognosis. During the treatment period, families are facing different social and economic challenges - from the challenges in finding proper medical care and a nursing home, to financial burden and psychological issues. The results in the chapter will be based on in-depth interviews with family members of Alzheimer patients, social service experts and owners of nursing care facilities. In this way, the social and economic aspects of Alzheimer’s disease will be analyzed, helping them to understand better and address the needs of patients and their family members.
