Summary/Abstract: This chapter examines the multifaceted nature of age and aging in organizational contexts, with particular attention to how these processes are shaped, interpreted, and enacted through communication. The purpose of the chapter is to address the growing need to understand how age is defined, perceived, and enacted within organizations, and how these interpretations shape workplace experiences. Methodologically, the chapter adopts a conceptual and analytical approach, grounded in a comprehensive review of the relevant interdisciplinary literature. Its scope includes an examination of variance and process approaches to aging, multiple conceptualizations of age (chronological, functional, psychosocial, organizational, and life-span), the role of stereotypes and myths, and the application of Communication Accommodation Theory (CAT) to workplace interactions. The main findings indicate that aging is a dynamic and context-dependent process that cannot be reduced to chronological age alone. Stereotypes and myths about older workers remain pervasive despite limited empirical support, influencing communication patterns and organizational decision-making. CAT provides a valuable framework for understanding how these beliefs manifest in interaction, often resulting in overaccommodation, miscommunication, and reinforcement of ageist assumptions. The chapter also highlights that successful aging at work requires organizational interventions that address structural, cultural, and developmental challenges. Research limitations include the conceptual nature of the analysis and the need for more empirical studies. Future research should explore how organizational systems, leadership practices, and technological change interact with aging processes. The practical and social implications underscore the importance of inclusive communication, evidence-based HR practices, and organizational strategies that support productive and dignified aging in the workplace.
