Summary/Abstract: The article presents the postulates of the Lithuanian poetic avant-garde of the 1920s, centered around the magazine 'Keturi vėjai' ('Four Winds'), through the analysis of the work of its most prominent representative, Kazys Binkis (1893–1942). The text focuses on selections from his collection '100 pavasarių' ('One Hundred Springs', 1923), which is regarded as a pivotal moment in Lithuanian poetry of the first half of the 20th century, signifying the advent of the post-Romantic era in Lithuanian literary history. The necessity to question and reevaluate the dominant canon of Romantic patriotic poetry is most explicitly reflected in the attitude of the lyrical subject, who, in Binkis’s poetry, assumes the form of a light-hearted character (vėjavaikis) – spontaneous, unrestrained, and celebrating the concept of freedom.
