Summary/Abstract: This article offers an analysis of Marcelina Kulikowska’s novel 'W promieniach' ('In the Rays'), with particular focus on the representation of female subjectivity and activism within the context of the 1905 revolution. The study aims to elucidate the novel’s philosophical underpinnings and to examine the literary construction of revolutionary women participating in the socialist movement, emphasizing the pivotal role of somatics in character development. The article situates the work within its historical and social milieu, supplementing the analysis by incorporating manuscript excerpts from the author’s diary, which provide additional insights into her perspectives on class-based feminism. In contrast to prevailing interpretations of the revolution, Kulikowska articulates a positive model of female agency that subverts the ethos of self-sacrifice and foregrounds heroines who are consciously engaged in processes of social and historical transformation.
