Summary/Abstract: A course of Applied Ethnology is intended as an introduction and a survey of the use of ethnology outside its pure academic context. Course participants will gain an understanding of how applied ethnology is done in a variety of social and cultural settings, how it benefits society, and how it advances our theoretical knowledge of culture and human behavior. It is necessary that the course also assess the so-called “classical” period of applied anthropology (anthropology in the service of colonial and government administration, reflexive anthropology), since this was the time when most theoretical and methodological issues were laid out. Anthropological/ethnological body of knowledge could be used in politics, economy, and adaptation to environment, medicine and education. In Serbia and Montenegro, tourism provides the most solid basis for the utilization of such knowledge.
