Summary/Abstract: The authors conducted in this study a comprehensive analysis of the effectiveness of a polysiloxane-based intumescent fire-retardant coating for steel building structures. The main focus is on the development and verification of a calculation method for determining the fire resistance limits of steel structures with applied coatings under standard fire temperature conditions. The inverse heat conduction problem solution method was used to identify the temperature-dependent effective thermal conductivity coefficient of the expanded coating layer. Based on a series of fire tests of samples with different cross-sectional coefficients and coating thicknesses, a data array was obtained, which made it possible to create a regression model of the time to reach the critical temperature of a steel structure. The research results were transformed into practical engineering nomograms for the design of fire protection for steel structures of fire resistance classes R15–R90.
