Summary/Abstract: This study aims to trace, present and explain the policies adopted by the United States and the European Union in response to the armed conflicts that broke out in the former Yugoslavia. It also examines US and EU interventions as part of geopolitical ideas and their manifestations in the post-Cold War period. Additionally, the study attempts to outline the challenges of transitioning to a new system of international relations, the crises that occurred during this period, and the specific political actions of key players in world politics during the first decades after the Cold War ended, as well as the consequences for the Balkan region. Additionally, it provides fundamental guidelines for political science in the context of regional and global instability.
