Summary/Abstract: The article highlights the main developments in the concept of political leadership, resulting from dynamic processes on a global scale from the beginning of the 21st century to present days. The author traces the prerequisites and processes that change the paradigm of leadership in contemporary national and international politics. In his analysis, the author leans on his experience as tutor in the field of political science, as well as on his practice as an editor and owner of an online media outlet covering news in national and world politics. The main thesis is that the contemporary political environment is a complex ecosystem in which political leaders need high adaptability, and the horizons for planning and implementing policies are much shorter than in the past – undoubtedly, a result of the socio-technological transformations of the last quarter century.
