Summary/Abstract: This report examines the role of trade unions in Bulgaria as a key form of civic engagement and protection of social rights in the context of increasing political instability in recent years. In an environment marked by frequent changes of government, a fragmented political landscape, and socio-economic crises, trade organizations have established themselves as important mediators between the state, employers, and civil society. The report presents and analyzes specific examples of protests and strikes organized by CITUB, CL „Podkrepa“ and sectoral trade unions, particularly in response to growing social inequalities, inflation, the energy crisis, and labor law reforms. Emphasis is placed on the ability of trade unions not only to formulate demands for the protection of labor and social rights but also to mobilize broad public support, thereby becoming a vehicle for public opinion. The report further traces the interaction between trade union activities and broader civic initiatives, including protests and strikes, public campaigns, dialogue with institutions.
