Summary/Abstract: The article seeks a conceptual solution to the problem posed in its title through a conscious and deliberate choice to synthesize Mincho Semov’s understanding of the political process in the consequences of its third direction as a starting point and Blagovest Georgiev’s understanding of the geopolitical imperative. In presenting Georgiev’s views, emphasis is placed on the self-justification of the state from the point of view of its own interests, which results in practical models of its domestic and foreign policy. This leads to the fundamental orientation of raison d’Etat towards security and the search for relevant means to realize its geopolitical imperative. These means, fundamentally derived by Fritz Kremer, are of fundamental methodological importance for understanding the geopolitical dimensions of the relationship between domestic and foreign policy. The presentation of this synthesis of ideas by Semov and Georgiev provides an answer to the problem we have posed.
