Summary/Abstract: It is now generally held that the conception of absolute, inherent and imprescriptible rights based on man’s orgins and nature and antecedent to society, is not only a myth but involves a misleading conception of the meaning of human rights. A more satisfactory approach would consider rights as based upon human needs and possibilities and the recognition by members of a society of the conditions necessary in order that they may fulfil their common ends.
