Summary/Abstract: The European Union-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which was signed in 2023 and entered force in 2024 marks a seminal moment for both sides. This paper examines its importance and its impact on global agricultural markets while focusing on tariff reductions, export competitiveness and different sectoral effects. The conclusion that is drawn indicates that while the agreement boosts economic activity, its benefits ultimately favour New Zealand’s export-orientated agricultural sectors more. Overall, the FTA promotes long-term prosperity while simultaneously introduces new challenges for European producers.
