Summary/Abstract: In this paper, it is argued that the European Union should adopt a federation model of governance to regain its economic and geopolitical competitiveness. By examining fiscal policy, capital market integration, defence capabilities, and foreign policy, it reveals that the current confederal structure is insufficient to ensure long-term prosperity and strategic autonomy. Through comparison with the United States, it demonstrates that the absence of a unified framework in these areas has led to persistent structural divergence in favour of the US. The paper concludes that federalisation would strengthen the EU’s economy and security, positioning it as a unified global power.
