Summary/Abstract: Since Bulgaria’s accession to the EU in 2007, NGOs have played a central role in democratic consolidation and the dissemination of European standards. This paper analyzes fifteen Bulgarian NGOs to understand their governance, professionalization, and human resource management in an international management context, highlighting the balance between employees and volunteers, the diversification of funding sources, and European and international partnerships. The results identify a model combining professionalization and civic engagement, and provide recommendations to support organizational sustainability and strengthen their strategic role within international networks.
