Summary/Abstract: This paper examines the economic impact of Corridor VIII, a key transportation corridor revitalizing the ancient Via Egnatia, which historically connected the western and eastern parts of the Balkans. Beginning in Durrës, one of the region’s most important ports, the corridor seeks to strengthen trade routes, enhance economic development, and promote regional peace. Historically, Via Egnatia facilitated the circulation of goods such as metals, wine, olive oil, and textiles, some of which were traded along the Silk Road, establishing an early framework for economic connectivity. The completion and operation of Corridor VIII are expected to revitalize traditional industries, boost agricultural production, and increase the flow of modern technology and investment throughout the region. The collaboration fostered by this project, supported by international programs and government initiatives, will significantly contribute to the economic and sociocultural development of the Balkan countries. Beyond its economic impact, Corridor VIII plays a pivotal role in promoting peace, stability, and democratic values by enhancing cross-border cooperation. As a crucial step toward Albania’s European Union integration, the full realization of Corridor VIII will provide substantial economic benefits, including increased trade, job creation, and the free movement of goods, thus advancing the region’s overall development and stability.
