Summary/Abstract: The present study aims to analyze the role of European programmes in the modernization of the Bulgarian economy and their importance for the sustainable development of the country. The main objectives are to trace the funding priorities, to examine the effects on key sectors, and to identify the challenges in the absorption of financial resources. The research is based on a review of official documents and statistics from the European Commission, the Ministry of Finance, and national institutions, as well as on analytical publications and articles. The information is processed and summarized through independent interpretation in order to avoid literal reproduction and to place emphasis on the analysis of the data. The results show that European funds have a direct impact on infrastructure, digitalization, energy efficiency, and the support of small and medium-sized enterprises. At the same time, challenges such as delayed procedures, bureaucratic obstacles, and risks of inefficient use of resources are evident. The report examines the possibilities for building a new financial architecture within the BRICS framework. The main goal is to analyze the group’s pursuit of greater financial independence and the reduction of its reliance on the US dollar, known as „de-dollarization.” For this purpose, the report applies analytical and comparative methods, drawing on recent data and examples. The analysis shows that BRICS is strengthening its economic influence, but the idea of a common currency remains a challenge. In conclusion, it is noted that this process could contribute to a more balanced global financial system.
