Summary/Abstract: The paper seeks to analyse regulatory convergence in services within the EU – Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) as a specific case of economic integration. The study draws on a review of academic publications and institutional documents issued by the major international economic organisations. Its aim is, through a theoretical clarification of the concept of so-called „new trade agreements,” to examine EVFTA as a new-generation agreement in which services liberalization features prominently. The principles and mechanisms of regulatory alignment between the EU and Vietnam suggest favourable prospects at this still early stage of implementation. Despite the positive dynamics in bilateral trade relations, challenges persist, and the upward trajectory of this process ultimately depends on Vietnam’s political will.
