Summary/Abstract: Bulgaria`s participation in the Three Seas Initiative is of strategic importance, however it is faced with several challenges. The main challenges include low public awareness, political tension and disagreements and the influence of geopolitical factors. Bulgaria needs to remain balanced between its infrastructural ambitions and its energy dependence on Russia, which limits its full engagement in the initiative. Homeland discussions of the initiative remain relatively dull, and the lack of concrete project proposals restrict the country`s ability to fully benefit from its participation. Nevertheless, Bulgaria continues to play an important role in the regional cooperation, highlighting the need for more clearly defined national objectives and more effective communication of the initiative`s benefits and long- term prospects.
