Summary/Abstract: The disruptions in the water supply to the city of Pleven demonstrate a sustainable trend, characteristic even before Bulgaria's accession to the European Union. Both the Union funds and budget expenditures provide targeted funds for improving the condition of the water supply systems in a number of settlements. However, it is characteristic of the city that it continues to experience chronic difficulties in securing sufficient water supplies. Against the background of the above, the administration (both central and local, including the Water and Sewerage Company) demonstrates a recurring inability, bordering on inadequacy in its actions (or lack thereof), to permanently find a sustainable solution to ensure adequate water supply to the city of Pleven.
