Summary/Abstract: This report examines the contemporary challenges facing the development of public pension schemes and funds in Bulgaria. The analysis covers the institutional, regulatory, economic and social factors influencing the sustainability of the system. The main trends in demographic aging, the financial stability of the Pension Fund and the role of the second and third pension pillars are indicated. Based on the analysis, strategic guidelines for reform are formulated, aimed at extending working lives, improving the collection of social contributions, increasing the adequacy of pensions and digitalizing management processes. The conclusion emphasizes the need for an integrated approach combining social sensitivity, fiscal discipline and institutional modernization.
