Summary/Abstract: The article uses the example of the figure of Heinrich Schliemann, a famous self-taught archaeologist, the “discoverer of Troy”, to trace the recreation of the image of this historical figure in the mirror of three novels: I. Stone’s “The Greek Treasure”, P. Ackroyd’s “The Fall of Troy”, and E. Vodo-lazkin’s “Chagin”. The mentioned novels belong to different national literatures, American, English and Russian, and to different genre variants of the novel: documentary biographical novel, the genre of “alternative biography”, a novel with a multi-genre structure, including biographical fragments (diary, letters, etc.). As shown in the article, this circumstance is reflected in the interpretation and artistic embodiment of the image of Heinrich Schliemann, his function in the general concept of the author. Taken together, all three novels serve as evidence of the continued attention to the complex and extraordinary personality of the scientist.
