Summary/Abstract: The article examines the process of strengthening the institutional identity of Alecu Russo State University of Bălți, highlighting the relationship between historical memory and the demands of contemporary academic life. It analyzes the historical milestones that have shaped the institution’s evolution, the academic and cultural values promoted over time, as well as the mechanisms through which these elements contribute to defining the modern university profile. The study emphasizes the role of tradition, documentary heritage, and the continuity of the academic community in forming a durable institutional identity. It also addresses the transformations generated by the dynamics of today’s educational environment, by modernization processes, and by adaptation to new social and professional requirements. It concludes that the university’s institutional identity is built through the valorization of historical memory and its integration into contemporary development strategies, strengthening the sense of belonging within the academic community and enhancing the institution’s visibility in the educational and cultural space.
