Summary/Abstract: The present study is part of the theme of the year of homage to the Centenary of the Romanian Patriarchate, and presents the importance of the dogmatic teaching on synodality and autocephaly, through which the authority of Christ is expressed in the constitution and work of the Church. In Christian terminology, the Church has been understood as both the place of worship and the community that encompasses and expresses the communion of those who believe in Christ and are incorporated starting from baptism as members of the sacramental theandric organism led by Him. If the attributes of the Church (unity, holiness, catholicity and apostolicity) are the consequence of its theandric constitution as the Body of Christ, authority and synodality represent two aspects that relate to its presence and work in the world.
