Summary/Abstract: In this article, we seek to foster a culture of memory by revisiting the key stages in the ecclesiastical development of the Romanian Orthodox Church, from the attainment of autocephaly to its elevation to the rank of Patriarchate. The endeavour is undertaken within the framework of the 2025 Commemorative Year of the Romanian Patriarchate, dedicated to three landmark anniversaries: 140 years since the recognition of Romanian autocephaly (1885), 100 years since the elevation of the Church to the rank of Patriarchate (1925) and the consecration of the National Cathedral on the 26th October 2025. Furthermore, we have sought to highlight, through references to the testimonies of our predecessors, the major achievements of the Romanian patriarchs.
