Summary/Abstract: The Nicene Creed is one of the most significant theological accomplishments of early Christianity, having had a decisive impact both on the doctrinal structure of the Church and on its spiritual identity. Through the clear, concise, and resolute articulation of the dogma of the Holy Trinity, the Council of Nicaea laid the foundation for an Orthodox understanding of God, one in essence, yet three in Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The affirmation of the consubstantiality of the Son with the Father (homoousios tō Patri) became a cornerstone in preserving the revealed truth and in safeguarding the faith against doctrinal distortions.
