Summary/Abstract: A century since the establishment of the Romanian Patriarchate is not merely a chronological milestone, but a moment of synthesis and reflection on the path traversed by the Romanian Orthodox Church throughout history and on its role in the spiritual, cultural, and identity-forming life of the Romanian people. The Patriarchate has proven to be not only an administrative institution, but also a pillar of endurance and a moral compass, accompanying the nation through its most severe trials and offering the light of faith in times of darkness. Looking retrospectively, we observe that the Romanian Patriarchate has been present at all the major moments of modern history: in the struggle for national unity, in the defense of human dignity in the face of totalitarian regimes, in the support of the people during periods of crisis, and in the spiritual rebirth that followed 1989. The martyrs of the communist prisons, the clergy who kept the flame of faith alive, and the theologians who elevated Romanian Orthodoxy to a universal academic level stand as testimony that our Church has been, and remains, a living, creative, and witnessing force. The challenges faced by Orthodox theology in the twentieth century were manifold: confrontation with ideologies of death, adaptation to social and cultural transformations, dialogue with other theological traditions, and, more recently, engagement with the digital sphere and emerging technologies. The monumental work of Saint Priest-Confessor Dumitru Stăniloae, together with the contributions of other great Romanian theologians, has demonstrated that Romanian Orthodoxy can be profound, original, and relevant, offering the entire world a living image of Christian truth.
