Summary/Abstract: The study presents the teaching on the Sacrament of Holy Unction in the Confessions of Faith of the three Great Christian Confessions. Holy Unction is not a simple therapy with oil, which was practiced in the Orient, both by Jews and pagans, or a symbolic anointing that was also practiced in the Old Testament. It is an unction "in the name of the Lord", therefore according to the will of Christ, it cannot be called a minor or incomplete sacrament. Unction is not a late invention of ecclesiastical life and tradition, but is a cultic and grace-filled reality of the Church and its life from the beginning, since it was instituted by Christ the Savior and was often practiced in the New Testament.
