Summary/Abstract: This chapter presents the evolution of Spanish as a foreign language in the Hungarian educational system between the academic years 2004/05 and 2023/24. Analyzing the data available in official statistics, we examine the importance and volume of Spanish at the different levels of formal education. Beyond the national data, we analyze the geographical diffusion of Spanish within Hungary, taking into account the administrative division of the country as well. Considering its dynamics, we try to outline how Spanish has positioned itself among the most widely taught foreign languages in that country.
