Summary/Abstract: In recent decades climate change has had an increasingly adverse effect on the environment, which poses an existential threat to both the European Union (EU) and the world. Due to that reason the transition to a completely new model is necessary and it must be based on economic growth without negative impact on the environment. The goal of the research is to analyze the transition to a green economy in the European Union, the policies that will make this happen, the challenges and opportunities, which are revealed to the union by this transition.
