Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to analyze the dynamics of environ- mental protection expenditure in Bulgaria. In this respect, both the expenditure own dynamics over time and the change in its size relative to GDP are analyzed. In addition, a comparison is made with the corresponding indicators for the EU average, as well as for the group of EU member states from CEE, which allows to highlight the relative position of Bulgaria. In addition, an analysis of the expenditure on environmental protection by institutional sectors is performed, which represents an additional lens of research through which certain structural specificities are revealed.
