Summary/Abstract: The language of young people is the driving force behind the development of the foundations of the German language. We understand the term ‘youth language’ to mean a special type of language used by different groups of young people for communication under different social and temporal conditions. The uniqueness of this form of language is based primarily on the peculiarities of the mental and physical development of young people. The vocabulary of colloquial language has gender-specific characteristics that are specific to social and age-related groups of young people. In general, boys use colloquial language more actively in their communication, and the vocabulary of adolescent girls differs from that of the opposite sex. At the same time, there is no significant difference between boys and girls in their passive knowledge of slang vocabulary. Youth language is a special variety of language, characterized by distinctive emotional and humorous expressions. It also represents group identity, as the use of certain expressions helps young people distinguish themselves from the older generation and recognize "their own".
