Summary/Abstract: The ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict has become a defining case study in the evolution of drone-centric warfare. This paper examines the operational and strategic impact of drones, with a focus on their role in intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR) and precision strikes. Through qualitative analysis of open-source materials, battlefield footage, interviews, and official reports, the study traces the development of drone tactics across seven major phases of the war. It highlights the initial Ukrainian dominance in drone innovation and adaptability, followed by Russia’s increasing effectiveness through the integration of mass-produced drones, electronic countermeasures, and tactical coordination. The research argues that the proliferation and adaptation of both commercial and military drones, particularly First Person View (FPV) and kamikaze models, have transformed the dynamics of close combat and artillery targeting. The findings demonstrate that drone warfare has not only compensated for the lack of traditional air superiority but has also reshaped doctrinal approaches to modern military operations.
