Summary/Abstract: This paper attempts to study the manner in which memes affect our process of communication nowadays. We examine what memes are and how they work and affect our relationships. Furthermore, we observe the relationship between memes and social media as, depending on our age, we can use social media to get our information and to relax. Social media may represent for some of us the source of social engagement and personal development among others. However, there are instances where the negative effect of social media is present in our lives even though we have not been aware of it until major events occurred.
