Summary/Abstract: The caretaker government is regulated by the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria and is subject to amendments of 2023. Public authority is headed by the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, who establishes extraordinary executive power in a state of political crisis, and bears responsibility for it. Тhe caretaker government is temporary in nature and has limited functions, mainly related to the organization and conduct of the upcoming general elections. With the amendments to the Constitution of 2023, the powers of the President are limited and a political deadlock might be created.
