Summary/Abstract: The article argues that the concept of "ideology" has a bilinear, rather than mono-linear, evolution, as it seems today. In historical and historical-philosophical science, there are many examples of the use of this concept in a meaning that is inexplicable from the position of the currently established understanding of its evolution. The assumption of a second line of evolution of the concept of "ideology" resolves this problematic situation and, at the same time, adds new strokes to the history of the use of this concept.
