Summary/Abstract: Finland’s integration into NATO is one of the most important recent developments on the international relations scene, highlighting geostrategic consequences to the public's attention and strengthening the northern flank of the Alliance. The article focuses on assessing the impact of Russian aggression on Euro-Atlantic security and the political and strategic reasons that determined the decision of the Finnish state to join NATO. The purpose of the research is to analyze the reasoning behind this decision and to demonstrate that the Alliance is returning to its original mission. The relevance of the article can be argued by the major impact on European security and by the historical context of neutrality that Finland has displayed so far on the international relations scene. Given the framework of the Eastern European War, it can be added that the relevance of the issue increases, the foreign policy decisions of states being influenced by global geopolitical dynamics. Cartographic, geopolitical analysis and documentary research stabilize the methodological course of the study and lead to an equivocal conclusion. The main results obtained only partially confirm the initial hypothesis, indicating a greater complexity of the analyzed phenomenon than anticipated. The presence of additional factors influences the course of the study, the working hypothesis specified in the introduction of the paper not being fully confirmed, but the research conclusions suggest its partial validity
