Summary/Abstract: Food safety and security are critical components of sustainable development, particularly in the face of the ongoing global food crisis. Food safety ensures that food is free from harmful contaminants, while food security guarantees consistent access to sufficient, nutritious food. The global food crisis, driven by climate change, conflicts, economic instability, and supply chain disruptions, has intensified challenges related to both safety and security. This paper explores the core concepts of food safety and food security, examining their interdependence and relevance in current global contexts. It highlights how poor food safety practices can undermine food security by causing health issues and food losses, while insecurity limits access to safe, quality food. The paper also presents international frameworks and the major food crisis that have existed in the last ten years. Understanding and effectively applying these concepts is essential for building resilient food systems that can withstand future crises and ensure global food sustainability.
