Summary/Abstract: The strategy "Action Plan in the field of organic farming" developed by the European Union is the basis of the current research interest. Within the framework of the present theoretical-practical study, emphasis is placed on the statement that innovations in the field of organic agriculture change the commercial preferences of the Bulgarian consumer. Within the limits of the problems presented in this way, it can be emphasized that the main goal of the present work is connected with the construction of a theoretical framework for the specifics of the strategy "Action Plan in the field of organic agriculture" developed by the European Union and on the thus built pedestal to carry out a practical study of the data obtained through a survey conducted on the commercial preferences of the Bulgarian consumer regarding organic foods. The wide scope of the topic related to organic food requires the imposition of the following limitations of the present study: study of the strategy of the European Commission "Action Plan in the field of organic agriculture"; study of the commercial preferences of the Bulgarian consumer regarding organic foods. This brings to the fore the need for direct surveying, interviewing and observation of survey participants, followed by comparative and structural analysis. The conducted research shows that Bulgarian consumers recognize the advantages of organic foods, but their price becomes the main barrier to the development of the market of this type of products in Bulgaria.
