Summary/Abstract: Sustainable practices and standards embedded in European policies represent a key element in Bulgaria’s strategic development. This study aims to provide a structured overview of these practices and to analyze their application in the tourism sector. The focus is placed on environmental and social recommendations and standards incorporated into legislation, plans, programs, and strategies. The methodological approach is primarily based on the examination of secondary sources, which were purposefully selected, systematically organized, and subjected to analytical processing.The sustainable development vision aligns with the proposed standards, while simultaneously presenting a number of challenges for their adoption and implementation. The findings aim to draw the attention of tourism enterprises to concrete path that can facilitate the implementation of sustainable standards.
