Summary/Abstract: The conduct of criminal proceedings, with all the complexity of activities involved, would be impossible without accessible and predictable rules. One of the elements determining the application of criminal procedural law is space. Alongside the application of criminal procedural law over time and to individuals, space is a key factor that defines the framework for applying the law in criminal proceedings. Although, in general, applying the law in terms of space does not present major issues from the perspective of legal application rules, the current situation of criminal proceedings, influenced on one hand by the evolution of criminal phenomena and consequently by the procedural evidence, raises several questions regarding the application of criminal procedural law in space. These questions are further complicated by the new procedural institutions implemented by the legislator, as well as by the incorporation of scientific and technological advances into criminal proceedings.
