Summary/Abstract: This conference paper addresses the reasons behind the deepening fiscal crisis in France – the eurozone’s and EU’s second largest economy. Utilizing quantitative and qualitative analyses, the research demonstrates the interdependence between chronic budget deficits and government debt, and their impact on economic growth dynamics. The lack of reforms in the structure and the patterns of public spending in France is identified as the main reason for the country’s debt-management issues.
